Alexander McQueen 1

Now using the 60’s era British rock scene as inspiration for a line is not exactly original, it’s been done many times over in fashion. But seriously, who doesn’t love the 60’s rock scene and the clothes that were worn up and down Carnaby Street in London. Sarah Burton, lead designer of Alexander McQueen sure does, and her third collection of menswear for Alexander McQueen managed to culminate in something special. Taking care not to toy too much with the late designer’s signature dark, decadent aesthetic, Burton instead continued to roll out sumptuous, tailored takes on traditional British clothing.  It’s not the type of line that you could wear out during the day, but for nightlife, this shit is perfect.

GANT By Michael Bastian 2012 Spring/Summer Collection

GANT SS Michael Bastian9

Michael Bastian said that his inspiration for this GANT line was Hawaii, but he also said that he’d never been to Hawaii. On top of that he went on to say that everything he knows about Hawaii he learned from the Brady Bunch, so I guess this line is actually inspired by the Brady Bunch and not Hawaii.

Anyways, the collection seems to be party hippie, part seventees retro kind of deal. It works pretty well though, the amped up colors, the camo, plus a mix of more traditional whites and greys all come together to create a collection you could definitely rock in the summer.

Does this collection remind you of Hawaii?
Does it remind you of the Brady Bunch?
Was the Brady Bunch your favorite show?
Does Michael Bastian have any idea what the fuck he is talking about?

Michael Kors Spring Collection 2012

Michael Kors 1

Michael Kors, damn, you fucking brought it.

Kind of feel like I should pick up your collection that you showed at New York Fashion Week and head to Africa. Not Somalia though, because that place is famished, but like on a Kenyan Safari or something. I’m totally fucking digging the animal prints, hand-dyeing techniques, djellabas, and accessories like crocodile-strap cross-body bags.

How do y’all feel about Michael Kors‘ African collection?
Is this the best collection of New York Fashion Week?
Is Michael Kors better then Marc Jacobs?
Does Michael Kors make you horny?

N. Hoolywood Spring 2012 Menswear Collection

N Hoolywood 1

N. Hoolywood, yes that’s spelled correctly, is some brand out of Japan designed by a bro named Daisuke Obana. The brand just showed its Spring 2012 collection at New York Fashion Week and it seems pretty chill, like something I would wear on occasion.

Daisuke seems to have used a lot of vintage cuts in creating the suits and jackets and especially the shorts. To go along with the ever so present black he juxtaposes a few bright and unconventional colors.  Kind of feel like this N. Hoolywood is going to ‘take off’ here in North America in the near future as N Hoolywood seems like a way better option to shittier brands such as DKNY or J Crew.

Lacoste 2012 Spring/Summer Collection

lacoste-2012-spring-summer-1

Lacoste is a French brand probably best known for being the brand of choice for the crazy Norweigan terrorist who was responsible for the attacks in Norway earlier this year. Don’t really know how Lacoste feel about the free promotion they’re getting from the terrorist, Anders Behring Breivik, but I can assume that they are not happy with it.

Anyways looks like Lacoste showed their Spring/Summer collection at New York Fashion week. Looks to me like they’re trying to move away from the typical ’sportswear’ that they are known for.   The new offerings feature clean tailored garments that are somewhat influenced by military and clannish styling. Oversized silhouettes are paired with short shorts or slim cut trousers, while primary palettes are matched with strong and noticeable hues.

How do y’all feel about Lacoste?
Is Lacoste now the official brand for terrorists?
Should terrorists become more stylish?

Bespoken 2012 Spring/Summer Collection

bespoken-2012-springsummer-collection-1

Bespoken is a fashion label that describes themselves as ‘part Saville Row, part Rock n Roll’, so I suppose what they are going for is classy, but edgy.

Looks like they drew upon the music scene in Manchester, England in the late seventies and early eighties for inspiration.  The collection features a handful of forever favorites including gray suits, fine-cardigans, skinny button-downs, deconstructed plaid shirts and a Harrington-style jackets. The Fayed and Goncalves brothers’ vision for this collection was also initially inspired by graphics by influential ex-Factory records sleeve designer Pater Saville.

y-3-2012-springsummer-collection

Yohji Yamamoto is a Japanese designer who is currently collaborating with Adidas and in turn is creating an awesome workwear inspired line for Spring/Summer 2012.

I’m totally loving the plaid patterns, especially since they accent the layered look so well…
